My “Purple Sun Flower” is on display

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

As already mentioned in my previous post, one of my pictures is a winner in the Green Durham Photo Competition – or, as I recently found out: It made “runner-up” in the category “flowers and plants” in the Green Durham Photo Competition.

Last Wednesday was the opening of the exhibit at the Blue Coffee Café in downtown Durham, so my photograph is now on display until May 6, 2009.

In addition, it was featured during the Durham Earth Day Festival and will be printed in the Herald Sun Newspaper.

Green Durham Photo Competition: “Purple Sun Flower”

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

I just received the wonderful news that my photograph “Purple Sun Flower” was selected as one of the winners in the “Green Durham Photo Competition“, and will be on exhibit at the Blue Coffee Café in downtown Durham, North Carolina.

The picture is a photograph of wildflowers next to Highway 147, south of the Ballpark in downtown Durham:

A nice surprise and very exciting to me, this is the first time a print of my work will be on display in a public setting.

The opening of the exhibit will be Wednesday, April 22 from 5:30-7:00 at the Blue Coffee Café (202 N. Corcoran, Durham, NC). The pictures of the exhibit will be on display until Wednesday, May 6.

Hiking in Fog and Rain

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Last weekend my wonderful wife and myself spent some time hiking in the Asheville Area in North Carolina.

Saturday was supposed to be a bit foggy in the morning but clear up by noon – which unfortunately wasn’t the case.

Hiking Mt Pisgah

So we hiked up to Mount Pisgah in fog and rain, and it still didn’t clear up by the time we had returned to our car. Still a fun hike though, it made for an eerie feeling. We expected to see an Ogre after every corner.

A Photo Editor: Photographer negotiates a no-cash deal with U2

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Hiroshi Sugimoto, the photographer who created the picture on the cover of the latest U2 album “No Line on the Horizon”, apparently negotiated a deal with U2 to receive no money for the use of his picture. Instead, Mr. Sugimoto will be allowed to use the title song of the album in any of his projects in the future.

There are some more details on the Photo Editor Blog.
