Two weeks ago my wife and I went to the 12th Annual Kiln Opening at Luck’s Ware, which is were I created this (for me) traditional still life image:

The visit to this Sid Luck’s pottery is almost a family tradition for us, since we have been at every of his kiln openings since we moved to Durham (North Carolina) three years ago.

Sid Luck is a fifth generation potter, and runs the traditional wheel-thrown pottery business together with his two sons. The Kiln Opening is always a delightful event, with home-cooked food and a bluegrass band. When we visited his pottery for the first time we almost felt as if we are crashing a family party, everybody is just so incredibly approachable!
